I-Contact Presentation
from the West Midlands Police
West Midlands Police generously gave £1500 from their Citizen Focus Fund to help fund our
I-Contact Groups – Eight week courses for newly diagnosed elderly people with sight loss.
Our I-Contact groups are led by Community Worker Graham Rollason. Graham lost his sight after a car accident when he was 23 years old. The group benefit each week from visiting speakers and each other.
The cheque presentation was made at an I-Contact Group dealing with dual sensory loss (both sight and hearing.) Week seven of the eight week course, the group benefited from a talk from Kevin Watts a hearing support worker from Birmingham Council and Pat James our dual-sensory loss community worker who demonstrated a hearing loop which will help with hearing the TV and when listening in group situation.
Inspector Derek Packham (Quinton Police Station) presented the cheque to Graham and then went on to give an entertaining and informative talk to the group regarding current aspects of community policing, offering advice and answering any questions the group had.
